About the Event
What is Debian?
Debian is a free operating system put together by thousands of volunteers from around the world who work for a wide variety of organizations. These volunteers often contribute from their own free time with the support of their employers. While many commercial companies support Debian, the Debian project is independent and run by its community members. The Debian GNU/Linux operating system is a collection of free software packages. Currently, Debian is made up of more than 50000 packages. You can read more about Debian on the Debian website or on Wikipedia.
What is DebConf?
DebConf is an annual conference where Debian contributors get together to work on Debian. It usually happens in person, although in 2020 and 2021 we held it as an online event due the COVID-19 pandemic and in 2022 the DebConf22 was held in Prizren, Kosovo. In 2023, India is hosting DebConf23 at Infopark Kochi, Kerala.
What is a MiniDebConf?
A MiniDebConf is similar to DebConf but more localized. These type of events can happen throughout the year. These are smaller Debian conferences, targeted towards specific communities of interest and offers delegates an opportunity to network with other enthusiasts while immersing themselves in a specific topic or project.
